Businessman George Essandoh has petitioned the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) to investigate a social media user operating under the names “wickedblogger,” “wickedbloggergh,” and “wickedblogger backup” over allegations of false publications and online harassment.
In the complaint submitted to the Director-General of the CSA, Mr Essandoh accused the accounts of repeatedly publishing what he described as false and defamatory content targeting him and his company, SSL Refinery.
He alleged that the posts included claims of fraud, manipulated statements taken out of context, threats, and abusive content circulated across social media platforms.
According to the businessman, the publications have affected his reputation, business operations, customer confidence, and relationships with partners.
Mr Essandoh further claimed that the online activities have been followed by direct harassment from the account operator and some individuals allegedly influenced by the content shared on the platforms.
He is asking the Cyber Security Authority to investigate whether the activities of the accounts breach Ghana’s cyber security, data protection, or communications laws.
He has also requested that the Authority consider appropriate measures, including the removal of disputed content, restrictions on the accounts where necessary, and possible prosecution if any offences are established.
Mr Essandoh said he is ready to provide screenshots, links, and other evidence to support his complaint.
Beyond the CSA petition, the businessman has also reported the matter to the National Security apparatus and the Cyber Crime Unit for further investigations.
As of publication, the operator of the accounts named in the complaint had not publicly responded to the allegations.
No determination has been made by any authority regarding the claims.
