Bolt Food says orders from businesses beyond restaurants increased by 154% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, reflecting a growing shift among Ghanaians towards using the platform for everyday shopping.
The company said customers are increasingly ordering groceries, pharmacy products, health and beauty items, electronics, home essentials, pet care products and other retail items through the app, signalling changing consumer expectations for a single platform that can cater for a wide range of daily needs.
According to Bolt Food, the growth was driven by customer behaviour rather than a deliberate change in business strategy.
“We observed customers naturally wanting more from a platform they already trusted,” said Ali Zaryab, General Manager of Bolt Food. “Once people trust a platform to deliver a meal reliably, it’s only natural they begin expecting the same convenience for groceries, pharmacy items and everyday retail purchases.
We simply responded to how our customers were already choosing to shop.” He added that the platform now offers customers access to businesses across categories including groceries, pharmacies, electronics, flowers, sports and travel, making everyday shopping more convenient.
Bolt Food also highlighted its real-time order tracking feature as a key advantage over many traditional e-commerce services, saying it gives customers greater visibility from pickup to delivery while helping merchants improve fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
The company believes the expansion will also create more opportunities for local businesses to reach customers through its logistics network and generate additional earning opportunities for courier partners as demand for on-demand retail delivery continues to grow.
