The Chief of Staff and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani, has expressed concern about the delay in installing a new chief for Jamasi and appealed to the kingmakers to do something about it.
He said since the death of the chief, Nana Kwadwo Brobbey, some years ago the stool had been vacant and that was a disturbing factor that must be addressed to enhance peace and unity.
Mr Mpiani said this after he and four others had received citations and gifts from the chiefs and people of the area for their outstanding contributions to the development of the area.
The other personalities were Mr Ernest Yaw Bawuah, a businessman, Nana Bediako Poku, an Assistant Commissioner of Police and chief of Abenase, Lieutenant-Colonel Ababio Serebour of the Ghana Army and Mr Kojo Obese Antwi, the Chief Executive of Sekyere Rural Bank at Jamasi.
Mr Mpiani commended the youth for their efforts in sustaining the development of the town and urged them to continue to cooperate and help one another to bring more development to the area.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, told the youth that "In identifying honour and dignity in others, you are serving notice that if people manage their lives well, live in veneration and earn the commendation of people who come in contact with them, they will sooner or later receive from the generation after them the higher esteem you now confer on the five distinguished persons."
Mr Owusu-Ansah said the achievements of the five dignitaries had not come overnight but "it has come through hard work, selflessness, dedication and loyalty."
He stressed the need for the people to come together as one people with common aspiration.
He said: "Let us do away with rancour and bitterness and bury the hatchet and see each other as one people with one common destiny."
