The former CEO of the National Identification Authority, Prof Ken Attafuah has expressed his disappointment about his removal from office by the president.Prof. Attafuah said the way and manner the government terminated his appointment was not fair because it is against provisions of the Constitution, particularly Act 296(a).He said under constitutional democratic government, his appointment should have been terminated with prior notification by the president and with tangible reasons but unfortunately, that was not the case.Prof Attafuah said this in an interview with Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme. He said the law states that the exercise of discretional powers shall not be arbitrary, capricious or based on bias, resentment or personal dislike of the person in question and it shall be in accordance with due process of the law.Prof Attafuah who is also a criminologist, added that there was no reason for his sacking. He said he is a public servant who went through proper appointment procedures and was interviewed by the Public Services Commission with proper processes for his appointment, so he was surprised the president did not terminate his appointment properly. He added that he was informed of his termination on his sick bed and was even shocked to know that workers of the Authority were aware of his termination when he had no knowledge about it.Story by: Yaa Serwa and Akosua Addai/Adom FM/Ghana
