A sister of two African Americans murdered and buried at Akwamufie in the Eastern Region is blaming the police for the death of her two sisters.

Majewa Akpan said the police slept on the job even after they made several reports about the incessant death threats her sisters had received.

Mamlena, 75, and 69-year-old Nzinga were kidnapped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave.

Their bodies were exhumed after the Acting president of the Akwamu Traditional Council dispatched over 70 people to complement a police search for the two when it became apparent they had gone missing.

A search in their room revealed blood on the floor and a blood-stained cudgel, believed to have been used to hit them, a sight which triggered the search.

It is not clear yet the motive for the killings even though six arrested suspects appeared before court, Tuesday.

Majewa Akpan in an interview with Joy News' Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah said there are two more persons she suspects may have played a part in the murders and called on the police to arrest them.

"We came there on many occasions from threats that had been lodged against us and the police department did not respond.

"If they had responded people would not have felt they had the liberty to come and murder my sisters," she lamented.

The police are yet to comment on the matter.
