Some agitated youths in the Upper East region have vandalized a Mercedes Benz conveying second regional vice chairman of the party following news of the tragic death of the regional party chairman, Adam Mahama.
The vice chairman popularly called ‘Borga’ was being driven by an old man when the youth hurled stones and bricks at the car.
Police had to fire warning shots to disperse the attackers. The politician is safe and the car is now packed at the mortuary of the Bolgatanga government hospital.
Joy News’ Upper East regional correspondent, Albert Sore, reports that the gathering at the Bolgatanga government hospital is thickening.
The number of Police there would have difficulty to contain any potential violence if reinforcements are not called in, he stated.
The Upper East regional chairman died in the hospital where he was receiving treatment after two men poured acid on him around midnight Wednesday.
The motive for the attack is unknown but Mr. Adam was recently in the news for allegedly orchestrating an attack on the National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko, and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong.
