Former President John Agyekum Kufuor was shocked by the news of the death of former Upper East Regional chairman, Adam Mahama, his spokesperson, Frank Agyekum has said.
Mr. Agyekum speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Thursday said the former president who is currently in the United States could not believe what happened to the former NPP chair.
He said the former President is calling for calm in the party following the tragic death adding that he believes the police would work to bring perpetrators to book.
The late Adam Mahama died from an acid attack on him while he drove from a party meeting yesterday.
One person has so far been arrested in connection with the criminal act.
Meanwhile, former Trades and Industry Minister under the erstwhile Kufuor administration, John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten has called on the Ghana Police Service ‘to do everything possible to apprehend’ the killers of Upper East Regional chairman, Adam Mahama.

Alan Kyeremanten in a press release also condemned the ‘barbaric and criminal act.’
“Let me also seize this opportunity to urge all members of the New Patriotic Party and indeed all Ghanaians to remain calm and exercise restraint in their comments on this incident, and allow the law enforcement agencies to bring the criminals to justice…,” he said.

I have learnt with great shock of the sudden and unfortunate death of Mr. Mahama Adams, the Upper East Regional Chairman of our great party.
I wish to join all party members and other sympathizers in condemning this barbaric and criminal act. I urge the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to do everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators of this shameful crime.
To the family of Mr. Mahama Adams, I share your grief and sadness in this difficult period and pray for God’s divine protection for you. Let me also seize this opportunity to urge all members of the New Patriotic Party and indeed all Ghanaians to remain calm and exercise restraint in their comments on this incident, and allow the law enforcement agencies to bring the criminals to justice.
