The Ghana International Airline is looking for investors to partner it to become a vibrant business.
The national carrier since its formation some four years ago has been struggling to survive.
It has been on state subvention worth some $1.5 million a month until March this year when government withdrew that support.
Cabinet has however taken a decision to resume the support it until the end of this year after which the airline is expected to find its feet.
It is feared this could lead to the collapse of GIA. But its Chief Executive Gifty Anna-Myers tells Joy FM the airline will get new partners to sustain its operations.
Meanwhile a suit by the minority shareholders, GIA US, at the International Court of Justice against government, the majority shareholder could stall any effort to bring in new partners.
But Mrs. Anna-Myers believes there is a way out.
“Prospective investors who have made contact with us in the past, we have written to all of them. We’ve told them we now have the green light to bring you guys on board. Please come for a discussion and let’s see how we go from here,” she told Joy News.
She hinted that some of the prospective investors have already tendered in their interests and the company is considering the proposals.
The airline is currently the number carrier from DĂĽsseldorf to Accra and Mrs Annan-Myers hopes to replicate this feat on the major aviation highways from the country.
