At an NPP press conference at which 2016 flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo preached unity, the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong were absent following days of severe internal party wranglings.
But NPP Communications Director Nana Akomea says the absence of the two does not take away anything from the theme and tone of peace and unity expressed by the flagbearer.
Nana Akomea explained that the two national executive officers are in Kumasi, Ashanti regional capital on “private business”.
Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong have been at the receiving end of severe criticism and anger as party supporters and important leaders demand they step aside.
The reasons for the call on the two have been linked to the tragic attack on NPP Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama.
