There is some tension at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) over a directive by the chairman of the Board of Directors of the corporation that the Director-General William Ampem-Darko proceeds on a compulsory leave.
The directive is said to have been handed to the Director-General upon resumption of duty yesterday after a month’s leave.
An announcement about the Director-General’s forced leave has subsequently been posted on all notice boards at the corporation and there are suggestions Mr. Ampem-Darko may be physically prevented from entering the GBC premises if he attempts to report for duty today.
There are however, fears there could be a confrontation between supporters and detractors of the Mr. Ampem-Darko as he has considerable support with some union members.
Sources, meanwhile, say the Director-General intends to protest the directive.
