The 2010 budget has made provision for the implementation of the single spine salary structure.
The new scheme was to be implemented this year, but the huge deficit made it impossible for it to take effect.
Officials of the finance Ministry however tell Joy Business that the budget which will be presented to Parliament next week Wednesday has adequate allocations for the single spine salary structure.
It will be the second major labour programme that government will implement next year. The other one is the three tier pension scheme.
Meanwhile, the Tripartite Committee comprising government, employers and labour has set up a technical sub-committee to work out a new minimum wage for next year.
The sub-committee will meet on Friday and Saturday to come out with a figure which must be agreed by the entire Tripartite Committee for its inclusion in the national budget.
This is one of the few instances that the minimum wage will be thoroughly discussed and agreed on by the Tripartite Committee before the budget is presented.
Members of the sub-committee will consider certain factors including the rate of inflation, since the last review of the minimum wage as well as the general cost of living to arrive at the new minimum wage.
