The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, Mr John Alexander Kobina Ackon, has appealed to micro and small enterprises (MSEs) to avail themselves to business training programmes that will make their businesses to grow.
He was speaking to the GNA at a costing and pricing training seminar for members of the Obuasi branch of the Professional Video and Cinematographers Association (PROVOCA) at Obuasi.
Mr Ackon said MSEs could play active role in the national economy only when their enterprises are properly managed.
He commended the Obuasi office of the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) for organizing the seminar and also drawing up training programmes for business concerns in the municipality.
According to Mr Ackon, improving the economy is a collective responsibility and therefore, appealed to Ghanaians both in the public and private sectors to be alive to their tax obligations.
Mr Kelvin Ofori-Atta, the Head of the Obuasi Office of BAC, said the global economic crunch calls for owners of businesses to have a fair knowledge in managing costing and pricing of their services in such a way as to continue to stay in business.
He said most enterprises incur operational losses because of poor pricing and costing and that BAC is ready to create awareness for micro and small enterprises to flourish as expected.
"Most micro and small enterprises are not deriving the expected profit of their services because of lack of knowledge in pricing and costing," he stressed.
He advised businessmen and women to ensure that their enterprises are duly registered with appropriate agencies such as the Registrar General's Department to enable them have access to external loan facilities.
