Three Nigerian fraudsters have been arrested by the Accra Region Police Command for possessing forged documents of vari­ous security and state institutions.

The documents include criminal records, Voters' ID, bank account details and immigration papers.

The fraudsters are Attiti Best, 27, businessman; Iduh Joel, 27; and Solomon Eseoghene, 27, both unemployed.

Briefing the press, the Deputy Accra Region Po­lice Commander, ACP Timothy Yorsa Bonga, stated that on June 26 at about 6am, the command had a tip-off that some young men had gathered in a certain house at Dome, a suburb, and were defrauding people through the internet.

ACP Bonga said men were quickly dispatched to the location to effect arrest. When the police got to the scene, the three suspected fraudsters were operating with their laptops.

The police retrieved eight laptop computers, two of which were found to con­tain documents which the fraudsters should not have been in possession of. The fraudsters, during interrogation, admitted that the documents found in their custody were used to de­fraud people on the internet.

ACP Bonga seized the opportunity to caution state institutions to be wary of people they employ to their strong rooms, in order to limit leakage of vital documents to criminals.

In a related development, two Nigerians have also been arrested for robbery by the Accra Region Police Command. In addition, the receivers of the stolen items have also been picked.

The suspected armed robbers are Prince Ekene, a.k.a. Okoro, 29, computer engineer; and Jerry Elijah, mechanic, both residents of Ashaiman.

Narrating incidents that led to their arrest, the Deputy Accra Region Com­mander again stated that on June 14 at about lam, six young men armed with machetes attacked a couple at Fise, near Amasaman.

Speaking on how they got access to the house, ACP Bonga alleged that the robbers scaled over the wall and forced the door open with cement blocks. After gaining entry, they tied the man with a rope and succeeded in robbing them of a standing air conditioner, flat screen television, three mo­bile phones, three laptops and a sum of È»200.

The six used the couple's Toyota Tundra pick-up as their getaway car.

Later in the day, around 8am, the vehicle was found abandoned around Amasaman, where it was later impounded by the po­lice for further investigations.

Through police intelligence, Basiru Zukar and Adjei Appiah were arrested at Kwame Nkrumah Circle with three laptops and a standing air conditioner, which were later identified by the couple as theirs.

Basiru confessed to the police that he bought the items from Prince and Jerry, and led the police to apprehend them.

After their arrest, the po­lice also impounded two cabs from their hideout, to establish their true owners.
