Police at Adankwame in the Ashanti Region have arrested a 16-year old Junior High School leaver who assaulted a teacher just after writing his final examination.
Daniel Ennin, also known as ‘Problem’, was picked up on Wednesday for punching his Science teacher, Thomas Sarpong many times in the face, after the just ended Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).
The attack left the teacher with cracked lips and bruises on the face.
Teachers at Adankwame D/A JHS in the Atwima Nwabiagya District described Daniel as a bad boy - a truant and disrespectful.
“If you call the boy [Daniel] to talk to him, the way the boy will react; facial appearance, you will see that the boy is actually a bully. As time goes on, we saw that Daniel was a very bad boy”, one of the teachers said.
Daniel is said to have stopped attending classes immediately after he was registered for the BECE.
Daniel Ennin was named Problem by classmates for being a trouble fomenter.
His teachers say he had the courage to walk into the school one day to assault a female pupil during his truant hey days in the full glare of his teachers.
On his return to school, school authorities asked him to scrub the school’s urinal and toilet as punishment for assaulting a female colleague.
He never showed up in school again until he resurfaced to write the BECE; and this time, beating his science teacher who struggled with Daniel in an attempt to seize fire crackers from him.
On Tuesday, Daniel beat up the teacher, and subsequently threw the firecracker into a group of teachers and students.
Mr. Thomas Sarpong who is responding to treatment after being discharged by the Asuofua Health Center, suspects the assault had been planned.
“I could smell from his actions that he has planned something against us [teachers] so the moment I held the boy, he started throwing punches on my face”, Mr Sarpong explained.
The attack has left Mr Sarpong in pains.
“I just feel the pain on my cheek, forehead and its only me who can feel the pain”, the Teacher lamented.
