A woman and her child have been reported dead after a building collapsed at Assienipon in the Ashanti Region.
Assembly Member for the area, Prince Aeron Dua, who confirmed the incident to Joy News said Sekina Sumaila, 50, and Eric Adjei, 5, met their untimely death when one side of a plastered thatch house caved in while they were walking past it during a heavy downpour, Thursday.
Two other children who were with Sekina have also sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Church of God Clinic at Assienipon.
The Assemblyman said although there were occupants in the building before parts of it collapsed, none of them have been injured.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Juaben Government Hospital.
The Assembly Member said family members of Sekina Sumaila have been to the hospital to claim the body for burial later today in line with Muslim traditions.
