The Micro Finance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) has presented a cheque of GHC1, 039,900 to women in four Markets in the Greater Accra Region.
The beneficiary markets include the Anyaa Market which received an amount of GHC181, 500, New Market, GHC333, 100; the Chantan Market, GHC232,500 and the Achimota Market, GHC292, 800.
Chief Executive of MASLOC, Mrs. Sedina Tamakloe Attionu urged the women to invest the funds into their businesses so they could take care of their families.
She promised them more loans if they pay back the loans on time.
She revealed that the loans were in fulfillment of a promise made by Her Excellency Mrs. Dr. Lordina Mahama when she visited some markets hit by foods a few weeks ago.
Deputy CEO of MASLOC, Mr Mustapha Abubakar told the women that President John Mahama was working assiduously to alleviate poverty through the loans centre and other social programs like the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
"Today we are putting money in your pockets" he said.
A MASLOC board member Mrs. Kuma Mintah thanked the women for their support and urged them to repay so others could benefit.
MASLOC made a similar presentation to some markets centers last week with an amount of GHC1, 400,000 disbursed to them.
The women were given 12 months to repay the loans with a grace period of two months.
The Market Queens were grateful to the President for allowing MASLOC to come to their aid.
In all over 2, 000 traders have so far benefited from MASLOC loans.
