The Ghana National Fire Service has directed a filling station at Nungua to stop operations.
This is because managers of the Eve Oil facility were unable to produce a fire certificate.
Officials from the service have been touring some filling stations in Accra to assess their readiness for fire emergencies.
Joy FM's Hannah Odame who is following the inspectors reported a number of the stations toured so far have shown little preparedness to deal with any fire incident.
At the Eve Filling Station at Nungua close to the Ravico Hotel, the managers there claim to have permits given to them by the Fire Service.
But the fire officials explained the permit was for them to build the station but was not a license for them to operate.
They must have a fire certificate before they can proceed with business, the fire officials reiterated. The station was therefore asked to close down until they produce a fire certificate.
At the Teshie Total Filling Station, the managers there were able to produce their permits and fire certificate but the Fire Officials were not happy with the safety measures as well as firefighting equipment there.
They complained the station does not have sand to cover the petrol on the ground anytime there is a spillage.
The Total station was therefore authorized to take steps and acquire all the necessary safety equipment in a week or their business will be suspended.
The delegation will visit a few more stations in the Teshie Tsuibleoo and its immediate environs.
