The Country Treasurer of Barclays Bank, Simon Dornoo, is heading for the big job at Ghana Commercial Bank.
Mr Dornoo has rich experience in the sector, including working outside of the country.
He is one of three candidates short-listed for interview as potential successors to current GCB Managing Director, Lawrence Adu Mante.
Mr Adu Mante’s contract ended earlier this year but he was asked to stay on until a replacement was found.
Joy Business sources say a competitive recruitment exercise was carried out to arrive at the preferred candidate.
While various machinations took place beyond the recruitment exercise, it appears the GCB board was adamant about sticking to recruitment procedure during the search for a new managing director.
Some media houses had speculated various candidates they thought would be appointed by government to man the country’s largest bank, but it emerged that several of these supposed candidates were not even invited for interview.
It is now clear that Mr. Dornoo is the one going for the job.
