Black Queens coach Yusif Basigi has rued his side’s inability to nail Cameroon in the first leg of their Olympic Games tie on Saturday.
Ghana shot themselves in the lead against a their depleted hosts through captain Mercy Myles in the 25th minute and went on two squander a couple of very open chances in the first half at the Yaouned Omnisport Stadium.
Cameroon could not secure nine players from the squad that impressed at the recently ended Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada for the encounter due to club obligations and had looked short of confidence especially in the first half.

The Queens however failed to capitalise on the situation and got punished nine minutes into second half. A free-kick awarded the Lionesses was expertly converted by captain Christian Marie.
Speaking at post-match, Ghana coach Yusif Basigi said: "we came here with the intention to win because we knew that Cameroon is a very good team.”
“We saw them play at the World Cup were abreast with the performance that they displayed. We also played against them in Namibia before they went to the World Cup so we knew a lot about how they play.
”We were not afraid of them, but respected them. We came with the intention of winning but failed to score more when the chances came our way in the first half. We are still happy with the 1-1 outcome.”
Ghana will host Cameroon in the second of the 2016 Olympic Games qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium in two weeks.
