The High Court (commercial division) in Kumasi has ordered Kumasi-based radio station, Foxx FM to refrain from using Nhyira FM’s ‘Wiase Mu Nsεm’ brand.
The court order comes as a relief to Nhyira FM after Foxx FM recently started a programme similar to Nhyira FM’s Wiase Mu Nsεm which has been airing since 2006 using the same brand name.
The deliberate use of the brand name by Foxx FM follows the movement of Kwabena Asare alias Otwinoko who until October this year hosted the programme on Nhyira FM.
The presiding judge at Friday’s sitting imposed an injunction on the use of the brand name by Foxx FM to avoid any unfair competition.
Counsel for Nhyira FM, David Asiedu expressed satisfaction for the court ruling.
