Ashantigold Coach Bashiru Hayford has called for calm amongst the rank and file of the club. The coach has made these calls after fear and panic besieged fans and management after their goalless draw with New Edubiase.
The draw has seen the Miners lead cut to two points with some tricky fixtures yet to come for the Obuasi side.
But Hayford has is convinced his side can still annex the league title.
“Chelsea will also go away. We started with zero points, all of you must be aware. We started with zero points,” he said
“[Chelsea] are coming and we are also going and they are chasing us. For me I don’t have a problem. The problem is that they have managed the gap so we also have to strategize and make sure we keep it.”
He continued with a rhetorical question: “If we can maintain the two points or one point gap at the end, who will win the league?
"So what is the agitation?”
The former Medeama and Kotoko coach went on to question the faith of the fans citing biblical quotations for their actions.
“There is something in the bible: 'O ye men of little faith.' Yes, O ye men of little faith!"
What are the plans going forward for Bashiru Hayford?
“I am not going to relent on my efforts at all. We train, we prepare for another fixture. This [draw against Edubiase] should not discourage us.
Ashantigold’s next fixture is against defending champions Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in what promises to be a cracking game.
