Seidu Wahab, 16, has been arrested by the Akim Achiase Police, for concealing quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp in balls of Fante Kenkey, and attempting to smuggle them to a remand suspect, Madzidu Awudu, in police cells.Briefing the press, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (P.R.O). Chief Inspector Christopher Tawiah said on December 10, 2009, Siedu Wahab came to the station With a basket full of Fante Kenkey and loaves of bread, to be given to Madzidu Awudu in police cells.
He said the police officer on duty examining the content of the items in the basket suspected there was something hidden in one of the balls of Kenkey and decided to open it.The PRO said when the police officer opened the kenkey, he, found dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp.He said based on the dried leaves found in the kenkey the officer was prompted to open or cut the bread into pieces to know what was inside.
Chief Inspector Tawiah said the police officer found a packet of 55 cigarettes concealed in one of the loaves of bread.He said when the police officer questioned Wahab, as to how and where he got such items from he mentioned one Mr Duada, from Akim Oda who sent him with the food to be given to Madzidu in police cells.He said Wahab is now helping the police in their investigations and also assist them trace Dauda of Akim of Oda.
The Police PRO has accordingly advise the parents to be extra careful and vigilant about the movement of their children during this year's Xmas and New Year festivities.
He noted with concern that most unscrupulous men and women in society, have now turned their eyes on children who they use for them villainous activities during the festivities.He warned that the police would not spare any person caught in Such act.
