Two children, both girls, have been burnt to death in a candle-lit structure they slept near the Champion Divine Clinic at Tantra Hill, Accra after a major power outage late Tuesday.
The 26-year-old mother of the kids aged two and four, Rosina Botwe, left them in the locked kiosk with the lit candle to visit her boyfriend.
The candle apparently lighted up other items in the kiosk causing the fire and resulting in the tragic death of the two siblings.
The mother told Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng that she got a call in the early hours of Wednesday that her kids had been consumed by fire.
She said at the time she was leaving to her boyfriend's house there was a blackout so she lit the candle and left it in the kiosk.
According Seth, the young woman did not look well composed and she claimed fire officers had advised her to be calm.
The father of the victims is currently serving a prison sentence for a misdemeanour.
The police have since taken the bodies away.
