Former Kotoko CEO Jarvis Peprah has backed current General Manager Opoku Nti to stay on and fix the club's recent problems.
A combination of factors, none agreed to by fans and management, have resulted in their recent poor performance in the First Capital Plus Premier League.
Peprah, now retired, believes Opoku Nti, who has won back-to-back league titles since taking over, should be allowed to stay. But he wants the former Kotoko player to do more.
"Opoku Nti is a successful [General Manager] in Kotoko's history now and I strongly believe that he is going to succeed there and achieve more. He has done a lot because immediately they change him or terminate his contract something might happen because Kotoko is like Real Madrid.
"It's not about just football but it is about politics, too," Jarvis reasoned on Asempa FM.
Peprah, a former Kotoko spokesman, also made it clear that a club of their stature should not only be satisfied with winning the league, and that "continental glory matters more as a yardstick".
Also speaking to Joy Sports, he was categorical that he does not want a return to the club. "At the moment I am retired and will not come back into Kotoko's management," he told the Sports Track.
But Peprah (above, pictured) was open to any advisory role the club would want from his many years serving the Kumasi giants.
Peprah also called on other former management and board members to be heard with suggestions and actions that can help Kotoko out of its precarious state.
On David Duncan
It is no secret that the ex-Kotoko chief does not like current coach David Duncan. Weeks before the coach's ascension to the Kotoko throne. Jarvis had threatened to 'retire' from supporting the club should it happen.
It's therefore been no surprise that he's been vocally critical of the manager throughout the side's bad patch.
"Duncan has never liked Asante Kotoko and I've said that many times. Even before he was assigned the coaching job, that was his stance but now maybe he has changed his mind," Jarvis said.
But would he want Duncan sacked, especially with team a few points away from relegation?
"I won't say he should be sacked but the team should be looked at holistically, especially at the end of the season. If they think he needs help to save the club, then it should be done"
