This year’s FA Cup final has been tentatively set to come off at Oil City, Sekondi.
The FA Cup Committee after their final meeting onthe venue for the 2015 edition’s trophy-deciding encounter has opted for the use of the 25,000 capacity Essipong Stadium ahead of Accra.
This year’s finals pairs current holders Asante Kotoko with the club they dethroned last season, Medeama SC after an exciting all-Premier League semi-finals novelty which saw both games played in unusual venues - Sunyani and Cape Coast - in July.
The former eliminated Aduana Stars while Medeama beat Hearts to register their place for the finals.
“We have settled on the Essipong Stadium in Sekondito host this year’s FA Cup final pending approval from the Ghana FA. If not, we would have to revert to the Accra Sports Stadium for the game on August 30,”says FA Cup Committee chairman Joseph Yaw Appiah.
"We are expecting a highly competitive contest,” he added.
The winner of the August 30 finals earns a Caf Confederation Cup slot to represent Ghana in the African competition alongside a GHS50,000 cash boost for preparations, separate from the GHS30,000 prize moneyfor winning the trophy.
Medeama emerged winners both sides met in theirfirst ever FA Cup finals clash in 2013.
