Zimbabwe's women's football team face an uphill task to progress further in the 2016 Olympic African Zone qualifying tournament as Fifa on Wednesday awarded Ivory Coast a 3-0 win after their opponents failed to appear for the third round first leg clash.
The Zimbabwean team failed to travel to Ivory Coast for the match provoking Fifa taking action.
"The qualifying match for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016 that was scheduled for 19 July 2015 between Côte d’Ivoire and Zimbabwe has been declared a 3-0 forfeit victory for Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)," read a Fifa statement.
"The Fifa Disciplinary Committee decided that the match should be forfeited, and ordered the Zimbabwe Football Association to pay a fine of CHF 10,000 ($10 300)."
