The Ghana FA maintains it is yet to confirm a friendly opponent for the Black Stars for the Fifa date of friendlies in September.</p>
Neighbours Nigeria are reportedly strongly lobbying for a date with coach Avram Grant’s men in London while last month, Chile claimed reaching an agreement with Ghana through its national team assistant coach Sergio Santin.
Santin leaked the yet to be made official plan in an interview with Uruguay’s Radio Sport 890 where he said, “we have panned two games before the [October/November 2018 World Cup] qualifiers – with USA and Ghana as well.”
Peru plan to play the United States Men’s National Team in Washington on September 4 before moving to New York where they claim to play Ghana on September 8.
But the Ghana FA Executive Committee member and management chief of the Black Stars, George Afriyie has swat aside reports of any agreement yet.
"We have received a lot of requests for that international date [September Fifa dates],” he said.
”It is possible those requests [from Nigeria and Peru] are part of the many that we have received but I can’t mention any country’s name. That may fuel speculations.
“We will have to wait until a decision is made then we make the official announcement,” Afriyie added.
The Ghana FA decision makers will next Monday, be meeting with the Black Stars managers over plans for the next Afcon 2017 qualifier away to Rwanda and a possible decision on Ghana’s international friendly opponents on September 8.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Rwanda in the Afcon qualifiers in Kigali on September 4.
