Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has said that the police seem to have neglected the rape and sodomy allegation levelled against footballer Asamoah Gyan.
He claims the police are rather concentrating on the extortion allegation against journalist Osafo Anthony and musician, Ekow Micah.
The police arrested Osafo Anthony, for allegedly trying to extort money from Asamoah Gyan with threats to release sex tapes involving him and a lady unless he paid 25,000 cedis.
The drama kept unfolding and Wednesday August 5, Ekow Micah was arrested by the police for being an accomplice of the journalist.
The Police believe Micah obtained the recordings from Sarah. With this ‘smoking gun’ in hand, he called up the journalist to use his position as a reporter to contact Asamoah Gyan and make the offer.
But Maurice Ampaw says the police are deliberately ignoring a report of rape and sodomy against the Black Stars captain by Sarah Kwabla.
He told Showbiz Review on Hitz FM that, “This lady Sarah Kwabla has come out to make a serious allegation of rape and sodomy involving the Black Stars captain”.
“Allegations are there, no one is arresting anybody then a journalist out of greed has allowed themselves to be set up,” he added.
He does not understand why the police have not invited the Black Stars Captain for questioning.
He said, “The allegation is still pending, as to whether it has substance or not, the police haven’t said anything.”
Maurice Ampaw questioned why the police are not inviting the player asking “why is the police so in a hurry when it comes to the issue of blackmailing and not in a hurry to deal with the issue of rape and sodomy.”
He wondered why the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) is quiet about the rape and sodomy allegations and now all attention is on the blackmail and extortion.
