Hearts of Oak will be looking to build on their recent win as they welcome Bechem United on match day 27 of the FCPPL on Sunday.
The Phobians ended a two-game winless run beating Liberty Professionals courtesy a solitary strike from the boot of Togolese import Foovi Aguidi.
But Hearts remained rooted at 15th position as other match day 26 results did not favour their push up from the relegation zone.
Stopgap coach Edward "Eddie" Ansah whose bench has recently been beefed up with the appointment of a German-Turkish technical adviser for the rest of the season, believes the important win on Wednesday begins their resurgence in the league.
"We have already started psyching up the players. We said this match [against Liberty] will begin the renaissance of Accra Hearts of Oak and having achieved that [victory], we believe we are on course.
"We are back preparing fully for Bechem United and I believe with God on our side, we will win convincingly on Sunday,” he said.
Eddie Ansah also confirmed the return of first-choice and Burkinabe international goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye for Sunday’s game. His replacement Tetteh Luggard suffered an injury in the game against Liberty.
"Soulama has completed serving his red card ban. He has been our number choice. If he had been in the matches that we’ve lost, he could have made some difference,” he said.
Hearts play at home on Sunday and another win for the Phobians could potentially move them at least just above the drop zone.
More technical help
Hearts will know that with help from newly-appointed technical director Bahtiyar Can Vanli, escape from relegation could well continue.
The midweek victory at the Carl Reindorf Park was a team contribution, which included assistance from the 53-year old.
“This win is very important for me and the club. It is the beginning of good things to come in the remaining games,” the Turkish manager said.
“Hearts are on the right path to survive the league and with hard work we will sail through. We have four games to go, but before the season ends, I can assure you that we will reach our target.”
Vanli was an assistant to Senol Gunes for the Turkish national team during the 2002 Fifa World Cup in Korea-Japan. He'll be swapping tactical notes with Ansah at the Accra Sports Stadium.
