Coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Tom Strand believes that the FA Cup competition is a lot more transparent than the regular top flight.
Speaking at the press soiree to announce details of the August 30 FA Cup final, Strand said: "The FA Cup is somehow different from the league because I have a feeling that it is a fair and genuine tournament where the best team wins.”
Medeama are currently ninth on the premier league log and perhaps the Swede does not believe that is a fair reflection of how his Tarkwa-based has performed after 27 games.
Meanwhile, Medeama will face defending champions Asante Kotoko in the cup final on Sunday, August 30 at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi.
Strand believes that although the Porcupines are favourites his side can replicate what happened two years ago when the Mauves and Yellows defeated the Porcupine Warriors.
“It is going to be the difficult but this wouldn’t be the first time we will be facing Kotoko, and I know we can beat Kotoko to win the trophy," Strand said.
The eventual winner this time would receive an amount of GH₵40,000 while the runner-up would receive GH₵15,000.
The winner of this year’s competition finals will also earn a slot to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup and will receive GH₵60,000 to boost their preparations for the competition and failure to do will see that money transferred to the runner-up.
