Fernando Torres insists Pedro has all the skills needed to succeed in the Premier League.
The Barcelona forward, who scored the winner in the Catalan club’s Super Cup success on Tuesday, has been linked with a move to Manchester United and has said the switch would be a “nice challenge”.
If he does move, former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Torres is adamant the 28-year-old will prove a valuable addition to any side.
“He is a good friend, and if he decides that England is the next step in his career, I am sure he will do very well there,” said the Atletico Madrid striker.
“He has all the ability you would expect from a player who has been at Barcelona for so many years, but also he has a great work ethic.
"He works hard, he will help defend, he won’t be bullied, he has everything to succeed in the Premier League. "
“I think he will find it very hard to leave Barcelona, but I understand as much as anybody how important it is to be playing regularly — especially once you reach a certain age. You need to be at a club where you are playing a lot of football.”
United are said to be willing to meet the £22 million release clause in Pedro’s contract and the forward did not refute and of the rumours. “Manchester?” he said. “Yes, there are nice challenges on all sides.
“Today I’m here [at Barcelona], and I’m happy. And if I go, I will go with my head held high having always given everything. These fans and this club are incredible.”
