Former Host of JOY FM'S Super Morning Show, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah over the weekend launched a youth football league in the Akyemansa District in the eastern region.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah was supported by renowned former blackstars players Charles Taylor and Eric Bekoe as well as football coaches and scouts at a thrilling launch event at Akyem Ofoase.
The Akyemansa Oppong-Nkrumah league is a tournament designed to provide a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents and hone their skills for a potentially flourishing football career in future.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Nkrumah called on the youth to be disciplined and united in all their activities forging a common bond to push for the development of the Akyemansa District.
Footballers Charles Taylor and Eric Bekoe who were guests of honour challenged the teams to observe the rules and work hard to attain success.
Chairman of the League Board, Paul Asamoah Gyimah, outlined a 9-week pre-tournament qualifying series within which 18 teams will be selected from the 9 zones in the district. The 18 teams will then go on to play a 34-week league culminating in the crowning of a champion at the Maiden Akyemanasa Youth Festival in 2016.
The sponsorship package announced by Mr Nkrumah includes football jerseys and cash sponsorships for league teams.
League winners will also be presented with a huge trophy and a cash prize.
