The five member committee set up to investigate abuse of office allegations against the head of the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice has submitted its findings to the Chief Justice, Wednesday.
It is not clear yet what the recommendations are but a statement signed by the Judicial Secretary Justice Alex Acheampong said the Chief Justice has since forwarded the findings to the President for action to be taken.
Lauretta Lamptey who has been on suspension since January 2015, after a prima facie case was established against her, stands to lose her position if the Justice Anin Yeboah led Committee made adverse findings against her.
She is accused of expending some $4,200 as monthly rent for 33 months on her hotel accommodation, at a time when over GHS180,000 was spent to renovate her official bungalow.
For a Commission said to be cash trapped and did not have money to carry out the statutory purpose for which it was set up, critics found it rather ridiculous that the Commission had just enough to pay as hotel bills for the head.
A Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri Frank Annor Dompreh and politician Richard Nyamah both petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to remove Ms Lamptey from office acusing her of abusing her office.
The MP said as head of an institution mandated to “to investigate complaints of violations of fundamental rights and freedoms, injustice, corruption, abuse of power…” amongst others, Ms Lamptey could not continue to be in office when there were serious allegations of wanton abuse of office against her.
A committee was then set up by the Chief Justice to investigate the abuse of office allegation against her.
After over seven months of investigation, the committee has concluded its investigation and submitted its report to the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood.
The chairman of the five member committee is reported to have said that all the parties cooperated fully with the Committee.
