The five-member committee set up by the Chief Justice to probe bribery allegations against 22 lower court judges has suspended its sitting until Novermber.
Key witness Anas Aremeyaw Anas has written to the committing stating that he would be travelling outside and would not be available this month, Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah gathered. The committee is however expected to resume sitting in the first week next month.
The committee sitting has been fraught with legal challenges and suffered some postponements.
The committee resumed full sitting yesterday after a High Court dismissed an application brought by 14 of the circuit court judges and magistrates challenging the legality of work of the committee.
Lawyers for some of the embattled judges yesterday had the chance to cross-examine journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas who has petitioned the Chief Justice to impeach them.
The cross-examination was expected to continue today but the committee announced that sitting has been suspended.
The judges made up of 12 from the High Court and 22 from the circuit and magistrate courts were captured on video allegedly taking bribes to set criminals free.
