Female lawyers in the Ashanti Region are contemplating civil suit action to seek damages for the two year old boy abused by a couple in Kumasi.
The little boy has lost all five fingers of the left hand after his abusive guardians allegedly burnt him with red hot iron at North Suntreso.
Richard and Rita Oduro Oti are facing charges of causing unlawful harm, failing to provide necessities of life for a baby and forcibly taking custody of a child.
The female members of the Bar told Luv News they are waiting for criminal proceedings against the couple to conclude before they initiate civil action against them.
They gave the hint when they donated baby products and other items to the boy as well as Little Steps Foundation at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Little Junior has started walking around and playing in his hospital environment.
His little bandaged hand has no fingers, consequences of alleged infliction of injury by his caretakers, Rita and Nana Oti.
His story has touched many including female lawyers of the Ashanti Regional Bar Association.
They have offered to put his young mum into a trade to cater for the baby.
They also donated baby items and cash valued at about 5,000 thousand Ghana cedis to Little Junior.
The other beneficiary is the Little Steps Foundation, an organization set up by doctors to take care of poor kids on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Leader of the group, Lawyer Mrs. Marian Agyemang Gyasi Jawhary, told Luv News the group is determined to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.
“Some of us will be attending court to be holding watching brief but we believe that given the interest that thanks to your station you have whipped up in this case, upon conclusion of criminal prosecution we may yet bring an action in civil liability to secure some compensation for them,” she told Luv News.
