The African Union advisory board on corruption has proposed that Ghana establishes mechanisms for regular vetting of judicial officers to enhance integrity in the justice system.
According to a communiqué signed by the chairperson the AU advisory board on corruption, Daniel Batidam and other members of the board, the continental union also asked Government of take robust steps to ensure justice and fair play in the justice delivery system.
The AU is of the view that these measures would restore confidence in the judicial system.
The communiqué was released after 18th ordinary session of the African Union in Arusha, Tanzania.
The call by the AU follows corruption allegations uncovered by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which implicates some of judges and magistrates in bribe taking.
More than 20 judges are currently under investigation following the establishment of a case against them.
