Supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress and the opposition New Patriotic Party have clashed at the precincts of a court in Accra hearing the case of NPP sympathiser Nana Darkwa. The clash came shortly after the High Court Judge B.K. Wilson adjourned the case in which Nana Darkwa is being tried for spreading false information to cause fear and alarm.According to Joy News correspondent Sammy Darko, who witnessed the incident, police officers at the court premises looked on helplessly as the supporters from the two parties traded blows and stones. At least two persons were seriously injured and have been rushed to hospital. The clash follows a recent incident in which supporters of the NDC stormed the premises of the same court and threatened to beat up Nana Darkwa.Nana Darkwa’s trial follows a radio commentary he made suggesting that former president Jerry John Rawlings torched his own house. The statement caused a stir as Minority Members of Parliament boycotted proceedings in solidarity with Nana Darkwa who had been arrested and detained.Meanwhile, Justice B.K. Wilson has asked prosecutors handling the case to produce the tape in which Nana Darkwa made the statement.Story by Fiifi Koomson/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
