Police in the Ashanti Region saved two men believed to be ritual killers from an angry mob at Sawua near Kumasi on Thursday.
However, before police arrived the mob had beaten the two men to a pulp. The arm of one of the suspected ritual killers had almost been severed off.
Reports indicate that the yet-to-be identified men were seen dragging girl to an uncompleted building.
Recently, the body of a 16-year-old student was found in the area, her genitals were missing.
Residents tell Nhyira News the community have been leaving in fear for some time following the development.
Police at Asokwa however say residents may have blown the case out of proportion by beating up the two men who are likely to be innocent.
Police Officers who will not speak on record say there has not been any evidence linking the suspects to murder.
No member of the mob who attacked the suspects have been arrested.
Meanwhile, the two suspects are receiving treatment at the Kumasi South Hospital, police continue their investigation.
