A second-year student of the Kumasi Secondary Technical School has been electrocuted.
The student, Michael Sarkodie, met his untimely death when he attempted to scale over the school wall which had an electrified razor wire mounted on it.
School authorities have denied electrifying the wire and suspect an illegal connection by shop owners behind the school’s walls may have powered the wire.
Joy News correspondent Ohemeng Tawiah said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Headmaster of the school, Emmauel Mensah, told Joy News the student was a truant and had twice signed an undertaking to be of good behaviour.
Mr Mensah said Michael reported for school at a time when assembly was in session. The deceased, perhaps in an attempt to escape punishment attempted to climb over the wall into the school compound.
School authorities are said to have been locked up in a meeting over the incident.
