A pregnant woman, who has been identified as Rabiatu, has been forced to deliver a baby in the open after she was attacked by robbers in Wa in the Upper West Region.
Joy News’ Rafiq Salam reports that the middle-aged woman looked depressed after she delivered the bouncy baby boy.
“She was in a state of confusion and could not make a meaningful statement,” he said.
Residents of Wa SSNIT flats identified Rabiatu as a native of Nadowli in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region.
According to Rafiq, some unknown assailants had attacked Rabiatu around the Wa SSNIT flats and taken all her belongings few hours before the delivery.
She sought refuge in front of a shop and delivered a baby without the help of anyone. Some residents of the community saw her and called a midwife to cut the cord. According to the Midwife, Christiana Dakwaah, the baby is in good condition.
She said although Rabiatu had a safe delivery, she had some cuts around her mouth and bruises on some parts of her body.
“I saw some cuts on her mouth and blood all around her face and body,” she told Joy News.
The residents later took her to the Wa Regional Hospital for treatment.
