Out of a total of 114 fake teachers caught by the Ghana Education Service (GES) either using someone's certificate or a forged certificate, 102 of them work in the Brong Ahafo Region.
This revelation follows recent staff verification exercise conducted by the Ghana Education Service in its quest to flush out teachers using fake certificates.
According to the acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the GES, Rev Jonathan Bettey, his outfit is alarmed at the revelation, and would fish out and dismiss any teacher working with forged certificates in the country.
"The result was about unprofessionalism; they are not professional teachers; some were using forged certificates; some certificates were not their own; we have realised that in the system and that they are using family member's certificates to gain employment.
"They entered into the system without their own certificates. Some people have also gone to the university for further studies without good certificates," Rev Bettey revealed.
He said they are going to prosecute teachers working with fake and forged certificates.
He said some of the teachers, after hearing of the news, have also absconded, but they would surely get them, he said.
Recently, the Director of Education in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr Jonas Yelboureri Yeboah, sacked some 40 basic school teachers who had been teaching for three years with forged certificates.
This followed a similar incident in the Jaman South District, where 17 teachers were dismissed, and another one at Duayaw Nkwanta, where a teacher was arrested at Boakye Tromo Senior High Technical School for teaching with a fake certificate for over five years.
