The Greater Accra Regional Executives of the governing National Democratic Congress have declared as null and void the elections of Sam George and Nii Amasah Namoale as Parliamentary candidates of Ningo Prampram and La Dadekotopon respectively.
The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the party Victor Quarshie Adornoo told Joy News the election victories of the two "are on hold" until both of them are able to clear themselves of the suspension noose hanging round their necks.
"They have been elected but it is the party that must write to the Electoral Commission to certify them to contest them in the 2016 elections," he said.
The two have been suspended by the Regional Executives of the party following allegations of indiscipline that characterized the just ended primary elections.
On 21st November 2015, you contravened article 41 (3a) and 40 (8b & c) when you instigated people against the regional executive monitoring team and granted interview to the media, accusing the regional executives of perpetrating fraud to the benefit of your contender,” the letter suspending Sam George said in part.
That of Namoale read: "The Regional Party and its Executives find this act as an affront to democracy and attempt to drag the party's image into disrepute. These anti-Party conducts or activities have embarrassed the party and have brought the Party into hatred, ridicule and contempt; hence, must not go unpunished in order to protect the sanctity of Article 40 (8b) and 41 (3a) of the party's constitution.”
The Letters of suspension have been issued to the two candidates, copies of which Myjoyonline.com have intercepted.
But there is a raging controversy over the suspension.
The National Executives of the party has issued a counter statement challenging the authority of the Regional Executives to suspend the two.
The Deputy General Secretary of the party George Lawson said the national executives will meet to review the decision by the regional executives.
But Victor Quarshie Adornoo defended the decision by the Regional Executives.
He challenged the National Deputy General Secretary of the party George Lawson to read the party's constitution.
