I am a retired Public servant now turned Social Advocate at Accra and my maiden project, which aptly caught media attention, has consisted in a 6-month investigative  walk-through the paternity DNA testing regime of the Republic of Ghana.

In the course of this exposé, I generated at my own expense for the intention of the Family and Juvenile Court, Ministries, Accra, five (5) DNA Reports, all of which tests were conducted and reported by SCIENTELLECT, a  private  Medical Laboratory in Accra.

Based on my experiences, largely bitter in diameter, and in the greater public interest, I humbly wish to put across certain concerns PLUS of course, a solo solution.

It is my cherished belief that this exposé will ignite quid pro quo, any retribution,  reproach or  re-proof  necessary to attain reform.

CONCERNS

1. that it is inconceivable how in the flower and splendour of 21^st Century’s gilt-edged technology, a DNA Laboratory on Earth could draw a full vial-load of blood and the corresponding buccal sample; both for test and still report an 81% aptitude as evidenced in Exhibit “A”
2. that in an instance of these tests, an apparently confused Laboratory Technician of SCIENTELLECT stuck a needle in my vein for three (3) minutes, ostensibly to draw blood sample and who in his panic, mercilessly kept fiddling with my burning flesh “like a Break-dance DJ scratching his turn-table”.
3. that the trauma of excruciating pain coupled with profuse cold sweat culminated into dizziness, induced by tachycardia, which sent me staggering to the ground Nurses for salvation and when they checked my blood pressure, it had shot from the normal levels of 116/66  to  208/120.
4. that the ambivalent language of the Report, which rivals the Oracle of Delphi leaves much to be desired, in that, it degenerated the Report from the technical assertion that it ought to be into a symposium of philosophical eristics for Court/Panel which may only be rationalized perhaps on the Pareto 80:20 Management rule.
5. that, but for the prudence of the presiding Magistrate, His Worship Mr. Peter Oppong-Boahen (Esq) whose astuteness in effectively discounting, disregarding and in dismissing as irrelevant thereto, certain otherwise technical opinions Nos. 1 and 4 (asterisked) in Exhibit “A” and to pronounce judgment (albeit) in my favour and dispose the suit off accordingly as evidenced in Exhibit “B” (asterisked), I would have been made to undergo the quasi-satanism of another and a rather needless further test(s).
6. that the argument is much better appreciated when the situation is contemplated and contrasted within the premises of a similar transaction (Exhibit “C”) which is available on the Internet.

SUGGESTION / PANACEA)

That with ISO-15189 of the International Organization of Standardisation (ISO) being the Global Standard for the Conduct and Reporting of Medical Laboratory results including DNA and given the fact that I ever played the role of ISO – Quality Auditor within the Ghana Public Service and for that matter can vouch the ideal of an ISO standard, I urge the Ministry of Health to adopt that Standard, so as to eliminate all ennui.
