Of the many calls made by civil society organizations/groups to improve and accelerate the development of Ghana, one of such calls is the efficient use and management of our oil money. Money coming out our oil resource!!
To a large extent, the wheels of transparency and accountability regarding our oil money has not taken the right turn to help us grow as much as we should. The question has always been; who is responsible for this transparency we seek? And even at all, is there an oversight?
This oversight can only be a reality or better address when society plays it’s role by being part of the governance process of our oil money. Since 2011, Ghana has made some significant revenue from oil. But how many of us know how much we’ve made, when we made what, and where we spent what amount of our oil money?
There come a time when the talk must manifest into the walk. We cannot as citizens continue to ask questions when there is plenty of literature and platforms available for us to monitor how efficient our oil money is being used. One of such platform is Ghana’s foremost oil money website www.ouroilmoney.org .
This premier website; www.ouroilmoney.org , which is an initiative of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) and in collaboration with UKaid, provides all the statistics, data, contracts, projects, revenues, allocations, liftings and all the knowledge you need about our oil money.
The website (www.ouroilmoney.org), is interactive, gives a quick feedback, shares views with users and provides data from sources such as Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana, PIAC and other Governmental Institutions.
It is a one stop shop platform for researchers, students, lecturers, interest group, civil society, and opinion leaders to acquire comprehensive data on our oil money.
Not until we know where our oil money comes from and where it is spent, remember, we cannot hold those who manage our oil money accountable. Visit www.ouroilmoney.org now and be the first to learn more.
