One of Ghana’s leading alcoholic beverage producer, Agya Appiah Company Limited has provided water to Nsawam/Adoagyiri municipality in the Eastern region, which is faced with acute water shortage.

The gesture is in line with the company’s objective of meeting the needs of people in the environment within which it operates.

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality has been facing an acute water shortage as a result of the long dry season which has caused the river bed to dry up more than as anticipated.

The situation has compelled residents to fetch raw and untreated water from the Densu River for their household use.

Due to this backdrop, the people-centered company decided to supply water weekly to residents affected by the shortage.

Sales and Marketing Manager of Agya Appiah Company, Francis Ansah said the decision to supply water is to complement government efforts in solving the water crisis in the area.

According to him, they supply water tanker services to some of the sensitive institutions in the Municipality, including the Nsawam government hospital, Nsawam Methodist school, Nsawam Senior High School, Orthopaedic Training Centre and some of the Senior High Schools that have been affected.

“Water is life so Agya Appiah sees the provision of water to residents of Nsawam as part of its corporate social responsibility” he added.

Mr Francis Ansah appealed to residents to stop engaging in activities like illegal mining along the banks of the Densu river to prevent a recur.

Agya Appiah which started as a cottage industry in 1998 has now grown into a multinational company with state-of-the-art fully automated plants located at Amasaman in the Greater region.

The company’s flagship brand, Agya Appiah well known in West Africa due to its excellent taste and superior quality is working to develop the bitters market in other parts of the world.

Agya Appiah Extra Bitter, Agya Appiah W&P, Agya Appiah Premium, Tonado Bitters and Onwawanni Whisky are some of its notable brands.
