The Sekyere Afram Plains District Security Council has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to arm the police there to be able to maintain security in the area.
Reports say angry residents of Afirisere in the Agogo Central District shot an 80-year old Fulani man in reaction to the shooting a 25-year old farmer by suspected Fulani Herdsmen.
There are fears of further attacks at Akokonintare, a Fulani-dominated community in the Drobonso area as police-military team move to area.

Donkor Fuseini who is currently at the ongoing NALAG conference in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region says police in the district are inadequately resourced without requisite logistics to combat such situations.
Since the IGP John Kudalor intervened in the crisis last month, the District has been footing the bill to keep a meaningful police presence in the community.
Though the assembly is funding the construction of quarters, motorbikes, among others for seven police officers in the district, same cannot be said of weapons and other logistics.
For instance, there is no official police vehicle with woefully inadequate weapons for police.
Personnel at Kumawu are faced with the task of travelling about 40 kilometers away to Drobonso, the district capital of the Sekyere Afram to embark on patrols.
“The assembly cannot buy weapons for the police so we just appeal to the IGP at least even if it’s three in the police station; three could be okay. And the vehicle if it is ready, they should release it t for us and at least they should double the amount of weapons for us”. Mr. Donkor has appealed.
The DCE who is also the Chairman of the DISEC told Joy News that without weapons the police have little chance of enforcing law and order.
Meanwhile Mr. Donkor Fuseini has described yesterday’s attacks as disgusting and unwarranted. Speaking from the ongoing NALAG conference in Sunyani he tells Nhyira FM he’s devastated by the attacks.
“I am in a conference now but I can’t even concentrate. How can that be? Since when did we start shooting at human beings for no apparent reasons? I feel very disgusted. So what was the essence of going for the reprisal attack when we don’t actually know the source of fire”? Mr. Donkor quizzed.
A joint police-military team from the Operation Cowleg has been dispatched to area to maintain peace and order amid fear of attacks on Fulani-dominated community.
