Zoomlion Group of Companies a flagship company of the Jospong Group of Companies was one of the few wholly owned Ghanaian Business Groups to participate in the 2016 Africa Business Conference of the Harvard Business School, Boston Massachusetts from the 25th - 28th February, 2016.
The key objective for Zoomlion’s participation was to search for skills from HBS and other college graduates in the diaspora for employment and internship opportunities with Zoomlion Ghana Limited in line with the company’s 2016 Capacity Building Agenda, for its operations on the continent.
Speaking as a panelist on one of the well-attended panel discussions on the topic ‘Women in Africa Business’ the MD of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs Florence Larbi encouraged students as well as alumni of Harvard Business School (HBS) to look for opportunities in their home countries and return to transfer knowledge and expertise to help build indigenous African Businesses.
Amongst a panel of seven strong women who had chalked various successes as CEO’s and Founders of various enterprises across Africa, Madam Larbi blended her discussion with her personal and professional experience as a woman, a mother and a C-Suite Executive. This attracted a lot of interest from mostly female HBS students and other participants in the area of mentorship and advice on their career choices and Work - life balance.
MokhlesBustami, Group Chief Strategy Officer also joined a five member panel for a discussion on the topic – ‘Estate Development in Africa’. Also another very successful session Mokhles looked at the topic globally seating it in the context of Africa and drawing from the Jospong Groups perspective through SINO Africa’s strategy and the need to consider environment and waste issues at the planning stages of Estate Development.
Zoomlion Ghana Limited also participated in a career fair organised alongside this year’s event. Over 30 companies from Ghana, West Africa, Africa and parts of the Diaspora participated in the career fair. Barbara Mensah, Group Corporate Affairs and Marketing Manager of the Jospong Group professionally managed the career fair desk at the conference.
Over 600 students looking for job placements and internship opportunities in businesses in Africa attended.
Zoomlion Ghana Limited is a giant in the waste management as well as environmental sanitation business in Ghana and Africa as a whole. The company was formed under the company’s Act in January 2006.The company which started with a few numbers of staff has grown over the past ten years and now has a total core staff of 3,000 and manages over 85,000 workers under various forms of Public Private Partnerships (PPP).
Zoomlion has operations in other African countries namely; Togo, Angola, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea and Liberia.
The company is also prospecting forbusiness in other African countries such as Nigeria, Guinea Conakry, Sierra Leone and La Cote d’ivoire. The company’s mission is to keepGhana andAfrica Green, Clean and Healthy.
