A 32-year old mother of seven is thanking her stars for the timely intervention of Good Samaritans who have provided a lifeline to her depressing condition.
Mary Asantewaa had been going through emotional trauma due to financial challenges and other personal problems, as all her children are unemployed.
She told her chilling story on the Emotional Rescue segment of Luv FM’s Metropolitan Mix, hosted by Anita Akua Kyerewaa Kuma.
It drew sympathy from listeners who contributed financially to give her respite and hope for the future.
Mary was overwhelmed when she received 1,550 Ghana cedis from Anita on behalf of her listeners who donated the money. One thousand Ghana cedis of the amount has been invested in treasury bills while the rest went to her in cash.
“I will invest the cash in hand now into a business and manage to send my children to school”. She excitedly said.
Mary Asantewaa said her 72-year old husband is down with stroke, a situation which has compounded the family’s financial challenges.
She said life had become unbearable and the worsening condition left her with no other choice but to seek solace on Emotional Rescue.
Host of Obra on Nhyira FM, Mama Efe Amanor, who initiated the support effort, advised her to use the money judiciously.
According to the American Psychological Association, approximately 50% of all individuals will be exposed, at least, to one traumatic event in their lifetime.
Although the majority of individuals will be able to absorb the trauma over time, it says, many survivors will experience long-lasting problems.
For Mary Asantewaa, however, her experience is likely to be a thing of the past. All she needs now is proper management of the little she has from the kindness of Ghanaians.
