Former Education Minister in the Atta Mills administration, Lee Ocran, has criticized what he says is the inexperience of some so-called political communicators in the country.
Mr. Ocran says people who speak for political parties need a level of experience to do a good job.
The former Ghana High Commissioner to South Africa says political parties must educate their followers to understand the ideologies of the parties to better serve the citizenry.
Mr. Ocran was speaking on the Our Leaders talk show on the Ghana Television (GTV) Govern channel Sunday evening.
The former minister criticized those who leave the university and are without jobs nor work experience want to go on air to talk for political parties.
"People should talk about things that they know. If you want to educate me, educate yourself first. I am talking about political parties educating their people," he said.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) he said is trying to set up a party school where he will teach those who want to join to have an understanding of the party's ideology.
He refuted the host's claim that the party has lost followers who don't understand the party's ideology. The secret, the host said, has been with the pioneers or the early leaders and not the current crop of followers.
Mr. Ocran said it is not too late to get the followers to buy into the ideology of the party adding that they only have to mobilize the people whom he said only need leadership.
According to him, those in power must provide true leadership to draw dedication from their supporters.
He lauded the leadership in the era when people left their jobs to go carry cocoa because they believed in those providing leadership.
