Ghana plays host to several locally brewed alcoholic beverages loved for the multipurpose roles they play when taken.
Many of these drinks are loved for several reasons; some as appetizers and others are taken to boost one’s sexual performance.
However, many people have expressed their misgivings in the manner some of these beverages are prepared; arguing they are prepared in unhygienic environments.
But the lovers have discredited some of these claims adding they are the best drinks the country has and they must be protected.

One of such beverages is pito - a beverage which has a fetish appeal attracting both lovers and non-lovers to have a feel of it.

It is brewed from Guinea corn and served in Calabash in its pureness. It is the favorite drink of many people in the Northern region and some people in the Southern part of Ghana.

Though its origin is shrouded in mystery, many people are quick to point to Northern region as the place of its origin.
In one of the Ghana Month series, JOYNEWS’ Upper East Region Correspondent, Albert Sore takes readers a brief safari to Navrongo where the drink continues to remain a favorite of residents.
